Jon founded Hammes in 1991 and launched Hammes Healthcare in 1993 to apply his extensive management and real estate experience to the healthcare sector. Prior to forming the Hammes platform, Jon was a Managing Partner at Trammell Crow Company, responsible for managing its operations in the Midwestern United States and Canada, and a member of Trammell Crow’s management board.
Jon has substantial experience serving institutional investors, including former roles as Director of the University of Wisconsin Foundation and Director and Chair of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, which invests the assets of the Wisconsin Retirement System, the State Investment Fund, and other state trust funds.
In addition, Jon is a Trustee and Past Chair of the Medical College of Wisconsin, an Emeriti Trustee of Marquette University, a Board Member of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, and a Board Member for the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation.
He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Science in Real Estate and Investment Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
