Background
Emory Healthcare is an academic medical system focused on research and innovation, and the largest healthcare system in Georgia.
Challenge
With successful programs in Orthopedics, Brain Health, Medical Science Education and Health Information Technology, Emory is seeking to expand and better integrate these services to develop future innovative treatments and provide solutions for healthcare challenges facing its communities. To accomplish this, Emory is developing a state-of-the-art Musculoskeletal Institute—the newest addition to its Executive Park health innovation district in Brookhaven, Georgia.
Solution
Hammes was engaged to provide project management and operational readiness services for the new 180,000-SF Musculoskeletal Institute, which represents the first phase of a multi-phased development to integrate education, research and innovation with health and wellness. Hammes is also supporting master planning efforts for the 65-acre campus to ensure the site is maximized to allow for the additional planned development of more than 2 million square feet.
Emory's Musculoskeletal Institute, which broke ground in late 2019, will be a comprehensive, patient and family-centered facility providing orthopedics and spine ambulatory care, physical therapy, imaging and ambulatory surgery, with clinical and discovery research support space. It will include a 675-car parking garage.
Construction is anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.
